Facebook ad sizes change more than a Radio City rockette changes costume.
From introducing new ad formats to constantly updating the dimensions and specifications of existing images and videos, Facebook likes to keep digital marketers on their toes – and for good reason.
One in five dollars spent on digital advertising is spent on Facebook. The platform’s roughly 2 billion monthly users spend an average of 53 minutes a day on the site – more than Snapchat (33 minutes) and Instagram (32 minutes).
If you want to reach eyeballs online, Facebook is the place to go. That means they will always figure out how best to attract customers with your ads.
But with all the changes, how are you going to design eye-catching ads that delight customers?

Facebook video ad size
When it comes to videos, Facebook has an important recommendation for its advertisers: Design for Mobile first.
Facebook recommends uploading videos with square (1: 1) or vertical (4: 5, 9:16, and 16: 9) aspect ratios to maximize compatibility on both desktop and mobile screens. The platform also recommends keeping videos short (15 seconds or less) and designing videos that work with and without sound (by enabling closed captions).
For best results, use the following video ad specifications:
Facebook feed videos
Minimum width: 120 px
Minimum height: 120 px
Resolution: at least 1080 x 1080 px
Video ratio: 4: 5
Video file size: max. 4 GB
Minimum video length: 1 second
Maximum video length: 241 minutes
For all types of video ads, Facebook recommends uploading the “highest resolution source video available without letterboxing or pillarboxing”. Facebook has a comprehensive list of the aspect ratios and features available for each type of ad.
Use MP4, GIF, or MOV format with a maximum file size of 4GB and a maximum length of 241 minutes.

Facebook image ad size
Your customers want to see what they are buying before they buy it.
So if you want to get your audience’s attention on Facebook, you need to include images in your ads, preferably those that showcase your product or brand in a unique and eye-catching way.
But designing image ads for Facebook can be tricky. Different ad goals (newsfeed, messenger, right column) and ad formats (mobile, desktop) sometimes require different ad sizes. Now, with Facebook’s ad manager, you can even upload different images for different ad formats and preview how an ad will look before it goes live.
For best results, use the following image ad specifications:
Facebook feed images
Source: Facebook
resolution: at least 1080 x 1080 pixels
Minimum width: 600 pixels
Minimum height: 600 pixels
Aspect ratio: 1:91 to 1: 1
For all image ads, Facebook recommends that you upload “the highest resolution image available” in .JPG or .PNG format, cropped to a supported aspect ratio.

Remember that advertisements in the right column are purely a desktop format but can also appear in other areas of the website.

Facebook Collection Ads Size
Collections are a type of ad that makes it easier for users to browse and purchase products directly from the Facebook feed. A collection usually contains a cover photo or video followed by several product images.
You can choose to have your video play automatically when a user scrolls through your collection. Clicking on the video will open up Instant Experience, a full screen experience that drives traffic straight to your product pages. You can add buttons, carousels, photos, text, and videos to Instant Experience ads. The video and audio will play automatically as you scroll past them in the app.
