Many writing tools are geared towards English and will not work properly with other languages. At Yoast, we make our innovative readability tools available in many languages ​​right from the start. Our linguistic team adapts our analysis to each language to ensure that it makes sense and delivers correct results. In Yoast SEO 16.8 we add language support for Slovak and Norwegian.

Norwegian readability ratings

Making your content readable and understandable for a large audience is one of the best things you can do for SEO. Hard-to-read texts just put people off. Additionally, search engines may have more difficulty understanding what you mean when you write complex, incredibly long sentences.

At Yoast, we want to fix this problem. Our readability tools can analyze your text and make suggestions based on best practices. While some of the exams are language independent, there are many that we tailor specifically for your language. Right now we have almost twenty languages ​​that we support – from English to Spanish and French to Russian.

In Yoast SEO 16.8 we are adding two additional European languages: Norwegian and Slovak. For Norwegian, this means the readability analysis works completely, as we’ve added support for transitional words, sentence beginnings, and passive language assessments. As of Yoast SEO 15.6, our premium SEO analysis works in Norwegian, which means it also recognizes different word forms that you use:

The second language we add is Slovak. Not only does Slovak get full legibility support, but also support for our word form feature. This state-of-the-art voice feature helps you enhance your content in a much more natural way. It makes Yoast SEO readability analysis smarter and its recommendations easier to apply.

Word forms give you more flexible analysis. You can aim for more variations on your focus keyphrase as it recognizes many different grammatical forms of your keyphrase. This makes it easier to see whether a text is over or under optimized. You get an analysis that is more in tune with the real world as it takes into account many more factors, just like a human would.

Also, if you have Yoast SEO Premium, you can combine the word form feature with its associated key phrase and synonym features to take your content to a whole new level!

WooCommerce SEO 14.3: Fix for missing product variables

In Yoast SEO 16.7 we made SEO work easier for people who use WordPress as their headless CMS. Unfortunately, in our WooCommerce SEO plugin, this resulted in some variables for replacing product IDs in the meta description not working when posts with REST requests were retrieved. In WooCommerce SEO 14.3 we fixed this bug by caching the variables for replacing product identifiers to make sure they are always available. If your website is running on WordPress with no headless, make sure you update to the latest version of WooCommerce SEO.

Update to Yoast SEO 16.8

Yoast SEO 16.8 is out today! This version includes an updated readability analysis with support for two new languages: Norwegian and Slovak. We are approaching the twenty languages ​​- a great achievement – and we have many more languages ​​planned.
