Indonesian YouTuber Ria Ricis is alleged to have donated AdSense cash due to allegations of monetizing her father’s loss of life
Indonesian YouTuber Ria Ricis may be known for over-sensational vlogs, but this time around, she’s under public scrutiny for allegedly exploiting her father’s death through a series of videos showing her running the ads.
Ria’s father Sulyanto died last Friday when she climbed a mountain in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) for an advertising job. Since her phone had failed during the ascent, she didn’t hear the news of her father’s death until she came back down. As a result, Ria was unable to attend her father’s funeral and only managed to visit his grave when she returned to Jakarta the next day, which she titled in a video. documented Papa’s new house (Daddy’s new house).
At the time of writing, there are at least nine videos on the subject on her channel, including two that Ria uploaded on Saturday and another four the next day commemorating Sulyanto with her family. The 25-year-old YouTuber, born as Ria Yunita, is best known among the younger generation in Indonesia for her daily vlogs, pranks and collaborations with other vloggers and celebrities. Ria, which currently has over 25.7 million subscribers, often makes national headlines for the gimmicks she witnesses on her videos despite allegedly embroiled in controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak last year continue to shoot video despite government recommendation on social distancing.
