What is a Best Time to Post on TikTok?

TikTok does an excellent job of providing each of its users with a highly personalized mix of content on the main interface of the app, the For You page. Videos suggested on the For You page can be from large and small accounts, but they have one thing in common: they are usually no older than a few days.

So, for the best results, post on TikTok when your audience is most likely already scrolling. In other words, to find your best time to post, you need to know where your audience is (time zones are important) and when they will be online.

But reaching a wide audience on TikTok isn’t just a matter of post. How often you post can also affect how your content is disseminated on the platform (TikTok recommends posting 1-4 times a day). To find a release schedule that will appeal to both the TikTok algorithm and your fans, keep a close eye on your performance until you find a frequency that works.

That said, some hours and days seem to work better than others across the board.

Overall best time to post on TikTok

Based on our research and experimentation, the best times to post on TikTok for maximum engagement are:

  • Tuesday: 7 a.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m.
  • Friday: 5 a.m.

(Times are in Pacific Standard Time.)

While these may appear anywhere, keep in mind that TikTok makes content for a global audience. 5:00 AM in Los Angeles is 8:00 AM in New York, 1:00 PM in London, and 10:00 PM in Sydney. (Remember when we mentioned you need to know where your audience lives? Time zones really matter.)

We have also observed that morning posts generally perform better at the beginning of the week (Monday through Wednesday), while TikTok videos posted in the afternoon and evening gain importance over the weekend (Thursday through Sunday).

Tips for finding the best time to post on TikTok

Check out your top performing TikToks

As with any other social media platform, the best way to find out what works for your audience is by … checking what works for your audience.

Your TikTok analytics are the best source of information about your unique best times to post on the platform. Analyze the performance of your existing content and reference views and interactions with publication times. When you find patterns, just do more of what works!

The Video Views section in TikTok Analytics is a great place to start looking for the best time to post. It gives you a clear view of which days were the toughest for your content.

Note: You will need to switch to a Pro TikTok account for audience and performance insights.

You can access TikTok Analytics on the mobile app or on the web. For more information, see our guide to TikTok Analytics.

Look at your competitors

You can learn a lot from the successes of others.

Find accounts that appeal to the same audience you want to reach and analyze their release schedules. Make a note of which of their videos are the most popular and look for patterns. If you find that TikToks published on certain days of the week outperform others, try posting on those days and watch your analytics closely.

TikTok makes it relatively easy to do a simple competitive analysis. Just go to the account you are interested in and open one of their TikToks. You can see when the TikTok was posted and how many likes, comments and shares it received.

You can also look up the number of views in the account’s feed – they’re right at the bottom of each video’s thumbnail.

Know when your audience is online

Your audience is (obviously) most likely to interact with your content when they’re active in the app. And since you know that the For You page is mostly made up of fresh TikToks, you should try to base your release schedule on the activity patterns of your audience.

To find out when your audience is most active on the app, check your company or creator account analytics:

  • On your profile page, tap the three-dot icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Tap Business suite, then Analytics.

Make adjustments if necessary

No social media strategy is set in stone.

TikTok is still a relatively new social network and as such is constantly evolving. New users join the platform every day, and new features are added regularly that can potentially affect your place in the TikTok algorithm.

That means your posting schedule will also evolve over time. If you notice a drop in performance, reread these tips to find new best times to post.
